My art refers to the experience of time conveyed through the landscape. I explore the feeling of nostalgia and my personal connection to place. By abstracting the landscape and stripping it of detail I mimic time’s effect on memory. I hint at how places slowly change over time through geological processes and human impact by slowly building up layers of paint on the canvas allowing the under painting to peek through. My linear landscapes create a sense of movement that reflect the subtle changes that occur when experiencing the present moment. I focus on color and composition to create images that can stand alone and evoke feeling in the viewer.
